Patyl A Oflazian


Patyl A. Oflazian is an Assistant Public Defender in the 17th Judicial Circuit, Broward County, Florida. Prior to becoming an Assistant Public Defender, she was an Assistant State Attorney in the 17th Judicial Circuit, Broward County, for approximately 7 and a half years. As a prosecutor, she tried approximately 100 jury trials. She served in the Juvenile Unit, Misdemeanor Trial Unit, Felony Trial Unit, Sexual Battery and Child Abuse Unit and the Homicide Trial Unit.

Ms. Oflazian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Political Science from Temple University. She attended Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, graduating in 2010 with pro bono honors and Certification in Health Law. While serving as a prosecutor, she continued her graduate education at Temple University Beasley School of Law, earning her LL.M. in Trial Advocacy. She graduated with honors and was awarded the Edward D. Ohlbaum Award for Commitment to the Art of Trial Advocacy.

Ms. Oflazian is a member of The Florida Bar's Criminal Law Section and Government Lawyers Section Executive Council.

She was recognized by South Florida's Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a Fort Lauderdale's Finest Young Professional Honoree in 2015 and as a 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyer of South Florida in 2017.

Ms. Oflazian is admitted to practice law in Florida, New Jersey and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is fluent in Armenian.
